Hartford Investment Management Company's Mezzanine & Private Equity Group
announces the recent completion of three mezzanine and private equity transactions:
   

$16.0 million in senior subordinated debt and equity interests

  The Mezzanine & Private Equity Group announces that it has invested $16.0 million in senior subordinated debt and equity interests to support the acquisition of The Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group, Inc. (“Smith & Wollensky”) by Bunker Hill Capital, L.P. Smith & Wollensky is a leading operator of high-end, high-volume steakhouses located in major cities across the United States. Smith & Wollensky is one of the few national steakhouses that dry-ages and hand-butchers USDA Prime beef on premises to ensure unparalleled quality, tender texture and outstanding flavor.
   

$12.0 million co-investment

  The Mezzanine and Private Equity Group also announces that it has made a $12.0 million co-investment along side of an affiliate of The Blackstone Group in the equity interests of Biomet, Inc. (“Biomet"). Biomet and its subsidiaries design, manufacture, and market products used primarily by musculoskeletal medical specialists in both surgical and non-surgical therapy. Biomet’s product portfolio includes reconstructive, fixation and spinal products as well as other products such as arthroscopy and soft goods and bracing products. Headquartered in Warsaw, Indiana, Biomet and its subsidiaries currently distribute products in more than 70 countries.
   

$12.5 million in senior subordinated debt and equity interests

The Mezzanine and Private Equity Group also announces that it has invested $12.5 million in senior subordinated debt and equity interests, alongside TCW Crescent Mezzanine Partners, to support the acquisition of Scitor Inc. (“Scitor”) by Leonard Green Partners. Founded in 1979, Scitor is a leading provider of engineering, management consulting and information services to the US Intelligence Community.
